BRET MICHAELS 'Will Be Grateful To Accept' ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME Nod When It's POISON's Time
September 5, 2016In a brand new interview with Cleveland.com, POISON singer Bret Michaels was asked if he thinks the band should at least be considered for the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, especially since the group has been eligible for induction since 2011. He responded: "Truthfully, this seems to be a common thing, that there is this concept that there is a conspiracy against some bands, VAN HALEN, KISS, and on and on, then they eventually get it. I think it all comes in time [and] when the powers that be believe it's our time, then it will be, and I'll be grateful to accept."
Rock Hall rules state that artists become eligible 25 years after their first records were released, but the Hall also claims that other "criteria include the influence and significance of the artists' contributions to the development and perpetuation of rock 'n' roll," which is, of course, open to interpretation.
Despite being eligible for induction since 1999 — 25 years after the release of its first disc — KISS didn't get its first nomination until 2009, and was finally inducted in 2014.
Michaels hinted in a recent interview that POISON will re-team with DEF LEPPARD for a U.S. tour in 2017. The two groups first hit the road together back in 2009, and then again three years later.
POISON drummer Rikki Rockett was recently declared cancer free after undergoing an experimental treatment. He was diagnosed with oral cancer more than a year ago.
